“A Message to Supermen” - Friday, January 20, 2023, 7:31 PM

This is a message to Superman. Although I can only imagine your plight, I understand that you too need to hear that it's going to be alright.

It's hard to watch people burning in buildings. It’s heartbreaking watching desperate bodies fall from the sky. It’s infuriating watching villains get away with murder, but we live in times where you can and will be persecuted for succeeding at saving lives.

I don't know how many times people have poked you in the eyes and sued you for hindering their attempts at ending their human experience early. I’m not sure how many times you’ve sacrificed your well-being only to see the victims choose to work with bad guys, but I can tell that it is weighing on you heavily.

I know you keep hearing that people like Batman more than you and they’re even trying to get you guys to fight one another, but I hope that doesn't sway your focus.

There are people who are responsible for other worlds in other dimensions and they are counting on you right here, right now. Crime fighting in your 30s has to hit different, especially now that everyone is so woke and cynical. Anti-heroes are bigger and stronger than ever but they are far from anyone’s role model. Is that who the kids should follow? I'm sure you fondly remember what it was like to be Superman at 17 and 25, but now you're family planning with Superwoman and seriously re-evaluating how long you want to do this and if you should cut your losses.

It's a decision only you can make, but I do hope it’s not based on comparing yourself to people who aren't super.

If you only did what’s best for you then you’d be running a hedge fund with Lex Luthor, and it would undoubtedly be thriving. But that’s not why people look up to you. To be honest, that’s not even why people hate you.

You represent a higher standard and there is respect and honor in that even when you fail to live up to it publicly or privately. Someone has to stand up to what can only be described as pure evil and insanity that is bold enough to steal, kill, and destroy the lives of innocent people in broad daylight. Someone has to draw the line to protect and defend their family, community, and nation against lethal threats that have no conscience. There are so many people who want to, but unfortunately many need someone super to do it first before they attempt to.

People will follow your lead whether it’s for good or for bad, but when you look in the eyes of the next Super Girl or Super Boy I hope the fire is re-ignited within you. Some would be totally fine if their world of tomorrow is reduced to ash just as long as they get to push the detonator today. We need Superman to do more than stay out of harm's way; we need you to join the fray.
